The Calm Before the Storm

Beautiful day for a Hike!
Greetings!

As most of you may already know, tomorrow is the official Opening Day (to the public) at Stowe and I can definitely say that there is an excitement in the air. Today is Community Service day here at MMWA and the students are all working in the Yurt to create Quilts which will be donated to victims of the devastating Super-storm, Sandy. Pretty great way to harness the excitement that comes on Opening Day-eve if you ask me!

Trent on the Slackbow
We are now 5 days into the school year, which means 5 days of dryland activity that has left coaches pretty impressed by initial fitness results in events like the mile, two footed leap, sit ups, pushups, and various balance challenges. We have also played some pretty quick paced games of basketball and football while testing ourselves during breaks on the Slackbow- this is essentially a suspended tow-strap stretched between an expanded hammock frame. Each of the different workouts that we have done prior to getting onto snow will be related to the new feelings that everyone will surely be feeling tomorrow morning with some on snow feedback from coaches Mike Leach, Jack Marhefka, and Andy Smith. That will be followed up by some discussion with the whole group about our goals this season and story sharing about our first day back on snow here at Stowe.

 Until Next Time!
